2012 Essay Contest winner and now, lucky for us, board member of the ATA, Rose Schneider talked about her experiences visiting Tula at the Essay Contest Launch Party last night at the Colonie Library.
“Nearly 2 years later and I still get asked about my trip to Russia,” said Schneider as she described the friends she made, the food she enjoyed, the homes she was invited to and the cat she enjoyed playing with at School Number 3.
Speaking to just a handful of attendees, Schneider and Education Chair board members Barbara Webster, Dawn Weinraub and Sonja Stark enlightened the room with a slide show presentation and video clips from prior trip(s) to Tula.
“A lot of people can say they have been to Russia but very few can say that they visited because of their writing skills, ” said Schneider who wrapped up her speech by generously thanking the ATA for making the opportunity available to her and thousands of students in the Capital Region.
Rose did us proud on the trip two years ago, and again at the launch of the latest essay contest. What an eloquent and gracious representative of the Capital Region! The lively images on the background slideshow enhanced Rose’s presentation.
Rose expressed so well what can be gained in just one visit to Russia. You cannot realize how your perspective, with new comprehension, will deepen about both Russia and the U.S. The connections with Russian people are possible because of the over 20 years of relationships between the people of Tula and the Capital Region,
